I am so proud of my husband. I can imagine that over the years people have figured he was telling stories, but it has now all been verified by the United States Government and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
He has finally, thanks to the PACT Act, listed at 210% Service-related disabled. This means, that the military acknowledges that he, indeed, was exposed to toxic chemicals – in this case Agent Orange. And that all of his illnesses and diagnoses are from that exposure.
I know people who lie and say they have worked with the military or been in the military themselves when they were not. Those people do a disservice to those who have served and have basically given their lives in the line of duty. I wish you’d quit.
Because of his service rating, he now qualifies for a myriad of benefits, as do I. Tomorrow, I’ll call and get us into the higher grade caregiver program. That was the main thing I was looking for when I filed this last claim. I was hoping for 100% rating. 210% is just–well, that’s the stuff that dreams are made of, especially when you realize how badly your loved one is suffering.
I’ll have more news soon. Like, soon we’ll be going to Portland to pick up a new travel trailer. Yay! Oh, and we qualify for legal and financial advice through the VA. So, we are looking to put the house into a trust, where the trust will own the house, and an updated will. Yay! There will most definitely be more news soon!
