James Arthur Rowe

On May 27, 2016, James “Jim” Arthur Rowe went to heaven to join his first wife, Diana Lynn Boyer, his oldest son, Earl Lee Rowe and along with numerous other family members.  Jim was 70 years, 10 months old.

Jim was born July 27, 1945 in Silverton, Oregon to Orvin Earl Rowe and wife, Lily Marie McClaskey Rowe. He was the fourth of nine children.  He grew up in Silverton at 413 Jefferson St.  He graduated from Silverton High in June 1962.

Jim married his first wife, Diana Lynn Boyer, on September 24, 1965.  They were married for 20 years before Diana was taken to heaven May 26, 1986.  Together they had three children Earl L. Rowe (1971-1987), Rosetta M. Rowe, & James W. Rowe.

After the death of his son, Earl, Jim took up the gauntlet and visited local high schools and other places to educate people about huffing and its deadly effects. He did not want another parent to have to feel the pain he had felt, nor did he want the loss of even one more child in the community.

In his adult years Jim had lived in Silverton, Salem, Scotts Mills, Coos Bay, and Seaside.  He worked at Publishers Paper in Oregon City for around 20 years.  Next he worked at E L Edwards on the coast as a maintenance man for eight years. Jim also served as a volunteer fireman in Molalla and was a member of the Moose lodge.

Jim married Roberta Smith on March 7, 2014 in Clatsop County.  They had been together for many, many years prior their marriage.

Jim will be long remembered by friends for his leather jacket and its fringe, and for him serving up oldies as a hobby DJ at weddings, Scotts Mills Summer Fest, Eagle Lodge in Molalla, and places like the Milltown Tavern in Silverton.

Jim was predeceased by his parents Orvin & Lily Rowe, grandparents John   & Cordelia McClaskey, and Alfred & Emily Rowe; his siblings Marvin  pars~09 June 2016

Uncle Jim was a really good guy.  He never really got over the death of Aunt Diane, nor that of his son, Earl.  I hope, that he is resting easy now, and lives on in heaven.  He deserves the best.
