Winter is Around the Corner

Took several drives last week. I played tourist for a friend from Ohio.
While doing so I realized I could be a real life tourist. My selling point would be something like ride with a historian. Pretty cool.

Prior to the drive, I had seen on Oregon’s DMV website that Crater Lake had a dusting of snow. “No big deal,” says I. lol. Let’s go to Crater Lake. Of course, the drive got colder as we got closer, you are going from less than 1K in elevation, to over 5K in elevation. I never even put on a jacket. I was fine.
Husband was cold though. I tried to warm him up, and then the friend wanted a photo, so she got us while trying to untangle and pose for said photo.

Brrrr, Clyde was cold and I was trying to warm him up.
Brrrr, Clyde was cold and I was trying to warm him up.

We were at Clearwater Falls here just off of Hwy. 138, and headed to Crater Lake.

Anyway, we got up there. And there was a bit more than a dusting of snow. The wind had come up, or maybe it was already up at the summit, and from inside the car it looked like blizzard conditions. I parked so my friend could take a photo(s). I got out and took several shots of one scene, and then I got back in the car. Below, is the scene I took. I trimmed off the bottom a bit, but am impressed that I got a photo of this quality with my phone.

It's almost winter, and here is the proof

Clyde did not leave the car and who in the world could blame him! But, he did want me to go around the rim of the lake on Rim Drive. I said no. He didn’t like it much that I said no. But, I invited him to get out and look at our tires, and then to look again at the more than a dusting of snow. Our tires are fine for dry roads/rainy roads. But, I can tell you if we had the income I’d have my tires changed by now, and I certainly won’t beg trouble by going out on ice. So, no, we headed home. On the way out of the park I stopped and took a picture of the front door. We had noticed that the gate was closed down, I had not realized it was closed down for the winter! It might be October but winter is around the corner!!

Another goal of this website is to disseminate a message (i.e. education) about domestic violence, child abuse, and all forms of sexual abuse to society at large. The message comes from real experience from the whole spectrum of the violence from sexual abuse by a perpetrator to sexual abuse perpetrated by a husband, to the abuse of children within the family. Peggy has seen it, lived it, and been hurt by it. There will on occasion be details that might be hard for some people to read, and a warning is usually posted at the beginning of the essay so that those who want to turn and not read may do so. The only way to teach and to let others learn what to avoid is to SHARE what happened with every detail necessary to make the point. Thank you.
